Participants will develop clear understanding about:


1- Energy control systems for various types of potential energies, procedures and requirements to control these stored energies during maintenance activities in various power sectors and industrial setups
2- Various types of hazards associated within different machines and equipment that possess energy which can accidently be released during maintenance activities
3- Difference between mechanical and electrical LOTO and their specific requirements
4. Understanding the use of various tools and gadgets required to ensure proper LOTO 

 Participants will develop clear understanding about:


1- Significance of process hazard analysis PHAs within the  overall Process Safety Management system in an organization
2- Utilizing different PHA techniques like, HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA etc. for a specific risk management requirement
3- Qualitative and Quantitative risk assessment techniques as part of the overall PHA program
4- Requirements of a comprehensive management of change MOC process
5- Understanding the effective participation as the PHA team member and why its critical for the PHA review 

 Participants will develop clear understanding about:


1- Requirements of a good HAZOP team leader and how the quality of a PHA review depends on this critical PHA leadership role
2- Responsibilities of the HAZOP leader while managing the entire PHA process, specially focused  technical discussions and decisions through active participation of all team members
3- Requirements of effective planning and managing a PHA study
4- Requirements and importance of a HAZOP review team that comprised of participation from various engineering disciplines and subject matter experts
5- Requirements of strict time management throughout the PHA review and the importance of allocating the appropriate time to each node by keeping the team discussion constructive and focused on the specific area of plant under review
6- Need of accurate Process Safety Information PSI, its accuracy and timely availability for a constructive and quality PHA review
7- Complete process and its requirements of a PHA review like system nodding, conducting the brain storming sessions by utilizing pre defined guide words and deviations and complete / populate worksheets with all the causes, consequences, risk assessment, safeguards and recommendations 
8- Importance of accurate and timely recording the HAZOP sessions proceedings with the support of scribe and utilization of PHA software
9- Significance of recommendations made by the team which must be practical to implement and time bound with assigned responsibilities. Not to redesign the process / plant
10- Requirements of post PHA review report writing and submission / presentation of recommendations to the site management 

 Participants will develop clear understanding about:


1- The role of LOPA within the overall process safety management system and process hazard analysis PHA
2- Safeguards and independent protection layers IPLs
3- Techniques to assign numerical values to risk and determine its acceptability 
4- How LOPA can be used to determine the integrity required for interlocks that is SIL allocation 

Participants will develop clear understanding about:


1- Overview of human factors, how they can impact the organizations
2- How to recognize, evaluate and control human error and human factors risk
3- Practical knowledge and techniques to help improve safety in safety critical industries such as power generation, Petrochemical and chemical process industries
